One of my first intarsia projects. This rooster however I do not consider done. I am going to make a new crown and beak (Is that what that thing is on it’s face?) LOL! I also want to make him new feet as these just aren’t right. With all the slaughtering I am planning on doing I ought to just cook him up!!! LOL BUT a expensive bird he would be as I have a multitude of differant wood ( alot of it hardwood) invested in him such as maple & red maple, Walnut, black walnut, cedar and aromatic cedar. There is a couple peices of cherry wood and I even have one very small piece of curly maple along with a sliver of tiger wood. Just by that statement one can tell I keep all scraps. As space invading all those scraps can be, it sure pays for itself in a intarsia project like this. I don’t paint or stain my wood “colors” as for me the challenge is finding mother nature’s colors. You will see I paint a couple of items that I just call my destresser projects like birdhouses, wind-chimes etc. When I do get done re-designing my rooster I will post it .
